This apprenticeship is designed to give apprentices the core skills of understanding the causes of construction delays, what tools are necessary to resolve contemporary issues in contract management and to ensure projects are delivered on time, to the specified scope, with fewer legal disputes, and above all within the original budget.
These core skills include:
- Understanding the influence of cost management on the procurement process
- Efficient management of construction contracts
- Managing the expectations and commercial interests of clients
- Administering advice on procurement routes and tender processes
- Analysing data relating to land, buildings or construction
- Ensuring projects are delivered safely, to the correct specification and quality
- Working as a part of a team to ensure projects are completed within the scheduled time
Apprentices will gain expertise in cost management, procurement and quantification methods using industry software by working collaboratively with very experienced teaching staff and visiting industry practitioners.
The programme aims to equip apprentices with knowledge of construction technologies, digital applications and BIM (Building Information Modelling), including sustainability, while also offering the fundamental skills and knowledge required in modern construction pathways for tendering and estimation.
Our apprentices will gain expertise in cost engineering management using Construction IT software, used frequently within the construction management industry.
Alongside the degree, apprentices will be supervised in completing their learning portfolio leading to Gateway and the Quantity Surveyor Chartered Status Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) examination.
Graduates will also gain recognition and accreditation by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
